A 20MW photovoltaic solar power plant is being built by the Dongyang Engineering and Construction Company on the advice of UK’s Standard & Chartered Bank in Sinan county in the province of Jeollanam-do, South Korea.

An agreement has been signed to develop a huge tidal power field off the South Korean coast. The joint venture between Lunar Energy and Korean Midland Power Company will develop the tidal power plant in the Wando Hoenggan waterway at a construction cost of £500 million.

Following the success of the SET (Sustainable Energy Technologies) Conference in Porto (Portugal, 2002), Chongping (China, 2003), Nottingham (United Kingdom, 2004), Shandong (China, 2005), Vicenza (Italy, 2006), and Santiago (Chile, 2007), Korea will join this continous effort by taking up the task of hosting the SET Conference in 2008 from 24 to 27 August.
